Mice do not love cheese the most. Give a mouse a choice, and it picks sweet food: grain, fruit, and yes, cookies 🧀🐭
And here is one more. A mouse's front teeth never stop growing. That is why mice nibble all day long. They have to!
So the cartoons got it wrong. One famous book got it very right. More on that below.

Worksheet of the Week ✏️
Cat. Hat. Bat. Mat. Change one letter, and you get a new word. That is a word family. This pack covers the short a families: [-at, -an, -ap, -ad, -ag]. Your child reads the word, traces it, and matches it to a picture.

Your little one can find the sight word, trace it, write it, and finish with some coloring.
Word of the week 💭

Nibble: to eat with very small bites. Mice nibble. Bunnies nibble. Your child nibbles the crust and leaves the rest on the plate.
Try it: "The mouse nibbled the cookie until only crumbs were left."
Story time 📖
A little mouse comes to your door, and you give him a cookie. Big mistake. Now he wants milk. Then a mirror, to check for a milk mustache. Then scissors, for a trim. Each small favor leads to one more.

The text is short and has a strong rhythm, so new readers can follow along and guess what comes next.
Your corner 🌸
This week, a small push to move your body. You do not need a gym.
Do the 7-minute workout. 12 moves, 30 seconds each, with 10 seconds of rest between them. You need a chair and a wall.
Do animal moves with your child. Bear crawl, frog jump, crab walk. 5 minutes, and your arms and legs will feel it.
Stretch before bed. 5 minutes on the floor after the kids sleep. Your back will thank you.
This week 🌤️
Paper cookie sort. Cut 10 circles from brown paper. On each one, write a short a word: cat, hat, man, fan, cap, map. Your child "bakes" each cookie into the correct jar: -at, -an, or -ap.
Bake real cookies. Let your child read the recipe steps out loud. Find the short a words together: pan, bag, add.
Make your own circle story. Start with "If you give a cat a hat…" Take turns and add one step each. The goal is to get back to the hat at the end.
Watch & Wonder 🧠
How do you know a cookie is fresh from the oven? 🍪
You see it. You smell it. You hear the crunch. You feel it is warm. Then you taste it. That is all five senses in one bite!
Dr. Binocs, a cartoon scientist with very big glasses, shows your child how eyes, ears, nose, tongue, and skin work together to tell us about the world. It is short, bright, and easy for young kids to follow.
That's it for the week! ✨
Print the pack, find the book, and maybe hide the cookie jar.
