Leaves have yellow and red colors in them all summer. When the days get shorter, trees stop making the green color, and it fades. Then the hidden colors show.
So this week is all about hidden things. A word hiding in a crowd of circles. And a squirrel who is sure someone is hiding his leaves. 🐿️
Bonus for the word lovers: we added a set of high-frequency word flash cards. Keep them by the breakfast table for a 2-minute word game. 🃏

Worksheet of the Week ✏️
Calling all little detectives! 🔍
This pack has 50 pages of sight words to color. On each page, your child colors one big sight word. Then they hunt for that same word in a group of circles and color every match.
On the “as” page, 5 circles hide the word. Can your kid find all 5 before your coffee gets cold? ☕
Story time 📖
The Leaf Thief by Alice Hemming. Squirrel loves his leaves. So when one goes missing, he is SURE there is a thief in the woods! 🍂 His friend Bird tries to help him stay calm. It does not go well.

Squirrel’s big panic makes this a fun read-aloud. Get your best dramatic squirrel voice ready. Your child may solve the mystery before Squirrel does.
Ask after reading: “Where do you think the leaves go after they fall from the tree?”
What does your kid love most? 👀
Burn some energy 🏃
Got wiggles? Same. 🙋 Push the couch back, press play, and copy the moves. Grown-ups dance too. Those are the rules.
Bonus challenge: Falling Leaf Freeze 🍂
Pause the video at a random time. Everyone floats down to the floor slowly, like a leaf. The slowest leaf wins. Press play and pop back up!
This Week’s Fun 🎨
1. Sight Word Leaf Hunt 🍁
Cut 5 to 10 leaf shapes from paper. Write one sight word on each. Hide them around the house. Your child finds a leaf, reads the word, and “rakes” it into a basket.
2. Leaf Rubbings 🖍️
Pick 3 leaves outside. Put each one under a sheet of paper. Rub over it with the side of a crayon. The lines and edges appear like magic.
3. Catch the Leaf Thief 🐿️
One person is Squirrel and closes their eyes. Someone hides a leaf. Squirrel searches while everyone calls out “warm” or “cold.” Take turns being the thief.

Answer 🤔

Leaf me alone!
One last thing…✨
You don’t need a perfect learning hour. One sight word on the way to the car counts. One book at bedtime counts. One silly leaf dance counts too.
